BRUCE GALLARDO, DVM
Director of Medicine
Dr. Gallardo was born in Caracas, Venezuela but was raised in Staten Island New York. He completed his BA in Biology at Hunter College in midtown Manhattan and received his DVM from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed his clinical year of studies at the University of Georgia where he was able further develop his special interest in exotic pets. Dr. Gallardo was one of the founding members of the only herpetological society in NYC and to this day is active in multiple exotic animal organizations.
Growing up he knew that veterinary medicine would be his path. His love for caring for them was evident to all those who knew him. His mother encouraged him to follow the path he loved and allowed him to keep and care for many pets of different species. She was often quoted saying that she could charge admission to their house, since they had as many pets as a zoo.
Dr. Bruce now calls Milford, Ohio his home and lives with his wife Tara and their son Saverio “Rio”. They still have a zoo of animals including 5 dogs, 2 cats, a tortoise, a snake, 2 bearded dragons, two horses, and several fish. When he isn’t spending time with his family or working, Dr. G enjoys music. He plays several instruments and is in a cover band with his wife, Tara. He also loves baseball and traveling.
Tara was born and raised in Cincinnati. Her background is in sales management. This demanding career moved her from Cincinnati, to Chicago, to Manhattan. She was working in NYC as a district sales manager when she finally decided that her work wasn’t fulfilling enough for her; so, she followed her heart, quit her job, and moved back to Cincinnati to peruse a veterinary career.
Tara is one of passionate people you may ever meet when it comes to animal healthcare and welfare. This trend was first noticed when she was three years old and first stated that “when she drows up she wants to open and aminal hospittle”. As she grew so did her determination. Tara is currently enrolled at Miami University working towards completing her BS in Small Business Management. Additionally, she is very close to earning her CVPM certification.
Today she feels so fortunate to get to work her dream job every day and help pets and their people. She loves spending time traveling with Dr. G and teaching their son Saverio (Rio) all about animals and wildlife. Tara is also an equine enthusiast and in her spare time enjoys riding and spending time with horses, volunteering with rescue, and of course spending time with her family.
Kelsi is a very familiar face at GFAH. She does spend a lot of time working, which is one of her favorite hobbies- since joining our family anyway! When Kelsi isn't in the office you can find her riding horses or studying. In addition to attending the University of Cincinnati's veterinary technician program Kelsi also serves our country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. She has one horse and two dogs named Remedy and Frankie who are always by her side.
Megan is one of the most compassionate people you will ever meet- so she fits right in with the GFAH family! Since Megan has a natural ability to understand animal behavior so there's a good chance she will be providing emotional support to your pet at their appointment! Megan attends Cincinnati State University for occupational therapy and in her free time enjoys hiking and traveling with her pets. She has two dogs and two cats.
Jack may be the person you see the least at GFAH- but he is the reason it is operating! He handles all of our "behind the scenes" tasks including managing inventory, ordering supplies, banking, scheduling, and much more! Jack has been a successful entrepreneur for over 20 years in the construction industry. He decided to switch fields to utilize his company management skills in an indoor setting and wanted to be a part of a team improving the life of pets. Jack is also Tara's dad! He has one dog and enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren (grandogs/grancats included!).
